He came up through the department rather than into it. Twenty-two years as Sub Divisional Officer, then the Provincial Highway Divisions at Okara, Mianwali, Jhelum and Chakwal as Executive Engineer, then the Rawalpindi and Multan highway circles as Superintending Engineer. The South Zone came in 2022 and the North Zone the year after.
